Marney Winfield, LMSW

Marney has a Master of Social Work degree through Ferris State University as well as
being a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and trained in EMDR modality.
Married and a mother, Marney values family connections, enjoys her two kitties,
Fantasy Football, playing cards, and is drawn to true crime shows and Survivor,
intermixed with the occasional Disney classics. She works as the Assistant Director of a
local non-profit Recovery Community Organization, 217 Recovery, in Traverse City.

With extensive life experience, Marney brings an understanding of the complexities of a
fractured family, domestic violence, substance use, emotional abuse, trauma, infertility,
and the overall importance of mental health. Marney has a wide variety of experience
working with substance use disorder, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, self-
harm/suicidal ideation, gambling disorder, and those facing pivotal life changes using
person-centered, strength-based, goal-oriented, and solution-focused approaches. 

 Marney is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a
proven, evidence-based treatment for trauma and difficult life experiences. She
approaches therapy with flexibility, drawing from multiple trauma-informed methods and
centering each client’s lived experience, insight, and strengths.
Marney sees the client as the true expert in their own lives and herself as a supportive
guide and mentor along the way. Marney has a sincere interest in helping others
transition to healthy, functional lifestyles, and improved family and social interactions.
